3rd March 22 - Manchester
Managed to grab a pic with
the amazing Lunafall.
Thursday night, and the start of another show in Manchester. Overall the night was brilliant except for drama with the trains coming home. I didn't get home until 2am because they cancelled a few trains back and the replacement buses weren't showing up. I'd need another blog post if I told the full story. But apart from that, the night was excellent. Sadly, I didn't watch all the bands. After Lunafall played, I stepped outside for some air and lost track of time and missed the 2nd support. But I hope to catch them in the future.
The Venue
YES, is a venue I hadn't been to before, but I've gigged so many times over the road at Factory I should probably move there! The show was located in "The Pink Room" on the first floor of the building. This room had to be the pinkest, but nicest room I've gigged in so far. No sticky floors, tons of space. Perfect!! I would recommend this venue to any bands or promoters who might read this. Not far from Oxford road station and plenty of other bars and food places nearby.
Lunafall
First on was Lunafall, from Birmingham. They are the band I originally came to the gig for in the first place. And that statement still stands. Three of the most amazing lads who were thrilled to finally see me after waiting 3 years. Of course it would've been way sooner if covid hadn't arrived.
They played a fantastic set, which consisted of a few original songs and some covers. Of course, me being me, knew most of the original songs played and sang along to the covers too. They got everyone in the crowd going, as a few got down to the venue nice and early to watch all the bands play.
I am super thrilled to have finally seen Lunafall play and finally meet them too. So humble and so genuine, which I love. I copped myself some merch and got given some wristbands to take home. They made by entire night and I couldn't thank them enough. Will I go see Lunafall again? 100% yes. I will be back and I will hopefully get down to see them in Birmingham and watch them play on home ground.
Airways
Airways was the headliner of the evening. I haven't seen or heard of these guys before but a quick lookup on social media and streaming platforms soon changed that. These lads are incredible!!! Their original music is actually fantastic. They got the entire crowd going and I had a bit of a head bop from the side of the venue.
So many people turned out for Airways, and its clear to see why. Every song they played was fast, upbeat and energetic. Watching a crowd sing back is always so nice. They even got the crowd involved nearer the end by getting everyone down on the floor. It was great to see people having a good time. Would I see Airways again? Yes totally. I would love to attend a few more shows. Like if they had supports on that I knew. From looking at social media these guys seemed to have toured a lot in previous years. Now that gigs are back and in full swing again I know that they'll have another tour and I can't wait for them to return to Manchester. I wish Airways all the best of luck for the future and I can't wait to return to a gig.
