14/01/22 - Josh Brennan and supports @ the spice of life London.

Friday I took a really long 6 hour journey down to London for one of my first proper show of 2022. I wasn't sure even if this gig wasn't going to even go ahead as other gigs I had booked around this had been postponed. (covid sucks) I left my flat at 7:30am. Got a train to Manchester, jumped on a coach, and went. Met up with friends and checked into my hotel.

The venue:

The Spice Of Life is a fantastic little venue, with another basement venue setting with a restaurant over the top which we had to walk through. It is very cozy but the drinks are costly (£55 for 12 shots, defo not the same in Manchester) I went a bit mad because I forgot I was in London so spent far too much on drinks. But this is a gig review haha, I moan every time but sadly cannot change inflation. Apart from this, the venue is wicked. Also, you have to go through the backstage door to the ladies, great if you ask me as long as you don't get caught hehe.

SC Undercover:

Sam is a lovely little singer with an amazing personality, originally from Birmingham, he wowed the crowd and myself with original tracks and covers. He filled gaps in his set with really interesting stories and anecdotes about his life and his career in music. I think he was wonderful. He also came over to chat to us before and after his set before rushing back to Birmingham which is always so nice to see from any artist. He is also very humble and true to his roots. SC Undercover will go far and I hope we cross paths again in the future. A one to watch this year. I wish him all the best for the future.

Hayat Selim:

I have to admit I was pretty tipsy by this point and I spent more time being a social butterfly with the table next to me. But from what I heard, this artist has a fantastic voice and did some lovely singing in a very unique style that I don't normally hear when I'm out at gigs. She had a man on piano with her who played wonderfully. According to the lad we had on our table, he's a piano teacher, so if you're in London wanting lessons maybe try and look him up. (@brian.hughes91).
I would however love to see Hayat again if I could, maybe next time be a lot more sober so I can appreciate her more. I wish her all the best for the future. With a voice like she has she will go far. Her music sounded like it should be in movies!!!

Emma See:

Emma was next up on stage and I loved her performance. Originally from Denmark. She has a wonderful voice and is just stunning. she drew a crowd and people got up dancing to her original music. I managed to get to speak to Emma after her set and she is wonderful, so humble and just a really nice person in general. I would happily travel back to London to see her again, and again try to be so much more sober than I actually was! Emma is going to go far and I can't wait for what she brings this year. She's going to do so well. Best of luck Emma!!!

Hana Bushara:

Next up was Hana. She is a very talented singer who i forgot to film because I was having such a wonderful time listing to her set. She did a brilliant acoustic set which everyone really liked and she had people up on their feet with every song. I hope to see her again and really appreciate what she has to offer because she was so lovely and has a fab voice. I wish Hana all the best in the future and I can't wait to see her again. She is going to do really well this year, keep it up!!!

Josh Brennan:

The final artist up was Josh. Now call me biased when I write this but I went for Josh in the first place and this was his last show in the UK for a while as he is moving to newer pastures for a new life abroad. His set was fantastic as per usual and I actually got so worked up at the end I shed a tear. Well, it looked more like a river in the toilets apparently. oops 😐
Josh delivered a wicked set and I always love every show he does and I've enjoyed traveling to London each and every time to see him. Because well that's what supporters do. Even rapper RTise made an appearance!! Who is also fantastic. This gig was so much more special because he brought a backing band to perform with him too. This is what made this gig so different from any other, but every single gig is the best when Josh is there. The last 7 years have also been ace supporting my pal. No, I'm not leaving, this is only the beginning for Josh and I always have his intentions at heart and I know whatever he does in life is always for the best. I will always be here as his number 1 supporter and yes the wait is going to be way longer but passport renewals are soon. There could be the off chance I fancy a flight when covid is settled down more. Who knows.
I adore Josh with my heart and I can't wait for all the wonderful things he has to come. Enjoy your new life in Tel Aviv, and if you need anyone, I'm here.
